Police OfficersAs the second largest city in San Diego County, and with several master planned communities expected to increase the city's population by nearly 50% over the next several years, the opportunity for an exciting career with the Chula Vista Police Department has never been better.

The department seeks motivated individuals who are beginning their careers as well as those who are interested in changing careers. Previous experience may include work in teaching, social work, military, business, law enforcement, or a variety of other professions. Prior law enforcement experience is not required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 20 years of age at time of application and 21 years of age at time of appointment.
  • Must have a valid California Driver's License.
  • Must meet U.S. Citizenship requirements as defined under California Government Code Sections 1031(a) and 1031.5.
  • US High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Additional college education and / or degree are highly desirable.
  • No felony convictions as a juvenile or adult, and cannot be on probation.
  • No domestic violence convictions and cannot be a subject of any domestic violence court restraining order.
  • Must have a good character and reputation.
