Community Service Officers
This is a civilian position that does not carry a weapon but performs
work related to patrol, enforcement and investigations.
Community
Service Officers assist Police Officers in furnishing information
and direction to the public as well as providing traffic control,
preparing written reports as required in performance of assigned
duties, and answer selected non-hazardous calls for service and
complaints. CSOs operate radio and telephone equipment, issue parking
citations and assist in gathering and preserving evidence.
Community Service Officers may work in specialty assignments such
as the Special Investigations Unit, Property Crimes Unit and in
the Traffic Bureau for the Abandoned Vehicle Abatement program.
