Chula Vista City Jail

The Chula Vista Police Department operates its own City Jail, currently the only city in the county to do so.

This 46-bed facility houses arrestees until their court arraignment (maximum 96 hours). Additionally, it may house state and federal prisoners pending transfer to other facilities. Staff members include the Jail Commander, Jail Compliance Officer, Police Services Officers, and Senior Office Specialist.

By housing arrestees at this facility, officers are kept on the street, instead of removing them from service for transport to County Jail or Las Colinas. Having immediate access to arrestees also facilitates the work of investigators.
